The asthma & allergy friendly™ Certification Program, administered by the Asthma Society of Canada in partnership with the international research organization Allergy Standards Limited (ASL), is an independent program created to scientifically test and identify consumer products that are more suitable for people with asthma and allergies.

Allergy Standards Limited (ASL) is a physician led global certification company that prepares independent standards for testing a wide range of products to determine their suitability for asthma and allergy patients. ASL’s management team possesses specialist skills in a variety of medical fields including asthma and other allergic diseases. President & CEO
Vanessa Foran joins the Asthma Society of Canada as President and CEO, bringing with her more than 20 years’ experience as an NGO leader working with patient groups such as the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario. Most recently, she served Parkinson Society Canada as Vice President of Public Affairs and National Programs, overseeing public policy, research, and education and support services for people affected by Parkinson’s. She has also participated in numerous advocacy initiatives working with the Canadian Coalition for Genetic Fairness, the Canadian Caregiver Coalition, Best-Medicines Coalition and in 2015 Chaired the Health Charities Coalition of Canada’s Public Policy and Advocacy Committee, where she played a pivotal role assisting HCCC with their position on Access to Medicines.
Vanessa is a Certified Association Executive, has a degree in Biomedical Ethics from the University of Toronto, a graduate-certificate in public relations from Ryerson and is currently enrolled in an MSc in Public Policy and Management at the University of London in the UK. She lives with her husband and two teenage daughters. Her eldest has lived with Asthma from a very young age, providing Vanessa with direct experience and a passion to improve the lives of Canadians affected by this chronic disease.
